The Funk Motorsport Custom Blanket Process
Step 1: Initial Consultation
We begin by discussing your setup — turbo location, manifold shape, and space constraints. We then provide a quote and request for the manifold, exhaust section or 3D printed replica to be sent to our Essex HQ.
Step 2: Material Selection
Each blanket features a titanium outer layer, silica insulation core, and stainless mesh inner liner for unmatched heat containment. For applications where a heat source will be in direct contact with the outside of the blanket, we utilise our specific Inside Out blanket finish to ensure durability in these areas. For applications where outer carbon fibre outer layer is required for aesthetics, we can incorporate that into our design too!
Step 3: Patterning & Assembly
Using templates or customer-supplied manifolds, our team of machinists create a blanket pattern for perfect fit. Our in-house team then use our signature Funk Motorsport 4-layer blanket construction to assemble each blanket for a perfect fit.
Step 4: Testing & Delivery
Every custom piece is inspected and tested before dispatch, ensuring quality worthy of the Funk Motorsport name. The blankets are then returned to the customer with their manifold, housing or 3D printed replica that was sent in to us. A simple return service!

How Our Custom Exhaust Blanket Saved Mat Armstrong From Fire!
Our good friends over at the Home Improvements Channel built a bright green Hovercraft to sit alongside Mat’s Lamborghini collection – the ‘Hoverghini’.
In testing the team discovered that the exhaust system came into contact with grass and caused a small fire. The team needed the exhaust to be completely insulated, and fast. We received the exhaust system and got straight to work.
Our team successfully manufactured a bespoke heat blanket for the Hoverghini and the build was successfully delivered to Mat Armstrong, without the risk of fire!
