Lowering Air Intake Temperatures for M-Sport in the WRC
When it comes to World Rally, varying climates across the year can be one of the toughest challenges of the sport. From the deserts of Kenya to snow rallies in Sweden, maintaining optimum air intake temperatures is crucial. That’s why M-Sport reached out to us to create a bespoke intake blanket solution for their M-Sport Ford World Rally cars.
Our team worked closely with M-Sport to develop a heat blanket design for their intake airbox. From there, our manufacturing team developed an initial prototype, which performed extremely well during initial testing on the M-Sport Ford Puma.
Funk Motorsport is proud to have supplied the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team with custom intake products since 2021.
Preserving power for OMG Yamaha Racing in British Superbikes
OMG Yamaha Racing came to us here at Funk Motorsport after struggling with heat soak. When their Yamaha R1 race bikes would sit on the grid before the start of a race, air intake temperatures would increase dramatically.
Heat from the engine would transfer into the air intake, causing less dense air to enter the combustion chamber and reducing power output throughout the race. We worked closely with the OMG Yamaha Racing Team to create bespoke engine cover blankets and heat sleeving solutions to protect their air intake. After initial testing, the team experienced 18°C+ differences between a protected and unprotected Yamaha R1 race bike.
Bespoke Intake Pipework Solutions for Mountune
Known for their expertise in Ford performance tuning, Mountune reached out to add a range of intake protection blankets for their intake solutions. Beginning with High Flow Intake Heat Jackets for the Mk7 Fiesta ST, the high demand for Funk Motorsport x Mountune blankets led us to create many more designs across their wider range.

Inlet Blanket Development for Dreamscience Automotive
With the launch of their new inlet manifold for the Ford Focus RS/ST, Dreamscience reached out to our team to create and develop an inlet manifold blanket to reduce air intake temperatures for their customers. Dreamscience were all too familiar with the effects of heat soak within the Focus RS/ST engine bay when pushing big power. The Funk Motorsport x Dreamscience collaboration to create a high-end inlet blanket was a crucial part of pushing the boundaries of horsepower through their Ford performance tuning packages.
