The engine bay of a vehicle becomes a harsh environment for fluids, wiring and electronic components that are sensitive to heat. Especially when routed through the engine bay passing extremely hot components such as exhaust downpipes, manifolds or turbocharger systems. It is important to keep these vital lines cool.
A common example of this are oil feed and return lines. Without suitable Heat Protection, these lines can become weakened by excessive heat exposure, potentially splitting and leaking flammable fluids throughout the engine bay. This can lead to catastrophic engine fires. The Funk Motorsport Heat Sleeving Range works in the harshest environments to ensure your lines are protected, and kept safe, even when exposed to extreme temperatures.
Funk Motorsport Gold, Silver or High Heat Silicon Sleeving are also commonly used to protect brake and fuel lines. Fuel and brake fluid are designed to work within a set range of temperatures. If excess heat exposure takes them outside of this range, fuel may vaporise and brake fluid may become less effective leading to vapour lock or complete brake failure.
