Accessories
No. Unlike other manufacturers, all Turbo Blanket, Header Wrap and Wrap Around Exhaust Blankets come with the necessary hardware to install. Each Heat Blanket comes with the required number of retaining springs and each Lava Rock Exhaust Wrap purchase includes 6 Metal Locking Ties.
Component Specific Protection
Brake fluid that is too hot, is a safety issue. This can usually be caused by a master cylinder, or brake lines working outside of their optimal temperature range. A Reservoir Blanket along with our Heat Protection Sleeving can be a great way of protecting the sensitive brake fluid, to retain a solid and reliable brake pedal.
Of course! Many products that we have can be used for multiple applications, or, we can create a complete bespoke solution, get in touch to discuss the specific heat protection you need!
When sensors get hot, their output signal can be distorted. This can result in a poor preforming engine due to the ECU not reading reliable data! Sensor Protectors are a cheap easy to fit solution to help remedy this and protect sensors from excessive heat.
Weak spark / combustion can be caused by HT leads, or Spark Plugs exceeding their designed temperature threshold. Spark Plug Boots can keep a strong ignition spark, by protecting Spark Plugs and HT leads from over exposure to heat, resulting in bigger BANG in the combustion chamber!
As with all electronic components, Starter Motors are sensitive to constant heat changes. Heating and cooling of a Starter Motor can cause premature failure, a Starter Motor Protection Blanket is a simple way to extend the life of your Starter Motor!
Exhaust Applications
Yes! When purchasing from us here at Funk Motorsport, everything you need is included in the packaging. Receive 6 metal locking ties with any roll of Funk Motorsport Lava Rock Titanium Exhaust wrap and the necessary retaining springs to install when purchasing a Wrap Around Exhaust Blanket.
Unlike other manufacturers on the market, we do not charge extra for these essentials.
Our Funk Motorsport Titanium Lava Rock Exhaust Wrap is a fantastic product that reduces temperatures of around 700-800°C down to approx. 300°C. For most applications this significant temperature drop meets a customer’s requirements.
In some cases however, applications require a higher level of protection, that’s where our Wrap Around Exhaust Blankets come in. Our Funk Motorsport Exhaust Wrap Around Heat Blankets are made from the same materials and construction methods as our Turbo Blankets, reducing temperatures of around 700-800°C down to less than 100°C on the external face. Huge temperature reductions.
Great question. You will notice that we offer one style of exhaust wrap, and one style only – our Funk Motorsport Lava Rock Titanium Exhaust Wrap.
You may have seen other brands offering exhaust header wrap in a variety of colours and finish options, sadly these are fiberglass wraps. Fiberglass wraps have huge downsides including losing their colour and becoming extremely brittle and flaking off over time.
Here at Funk Motorsport, our Titanium Lava Rock Exhaust wrap is a ceramic wrap compiled with a blend of basalt and lava rock for unrivalled performance and durability. It will not lose its colour or become brittle overtime like cheap fiberglass alternatives.
Our Funk Motorsport Titanium Lava Rock Exhaust Wrap is available in two different widths, 25mm (1 inch), or 50mm (2 inch) to suit various applications. We recommend going for our ‘Skinny’ 25mm wide Exhaust Wrap when working with very intricate and tight manifolds. For most manifolds, downpipes and exhaust sections, our 50mm option is the way to go!
Wrapping your exhaust offers huge benefits. When using a Funk Motorsport Exhaust Header Wrap, or Heat Blanket, excess heat energy is retained within the exhaust gases. Hotter gases accelerate faster than colder gasses, meaning that when insulated, the heat energy retained within the exhaust gas helps gases to exit the system sooner. This improves gas flow through the system.
By retaining excess heat energy within the exhaust system, you also reduce the amount of heat that escapes into the engine bay. This helps to reduce Air Intake Temperatures but also protect sensitive components and lines that run close by.
We strongly recommend wrapping your exhaust with a Funk Motorsport Exhaust Wrap Around Blanket, Titanium Lava Rock Exhaust Wrap or one of our Custom Manifold Blanket Solutions. Find out a little more about our custom blankets HERE!

Our Funk Motorsport Heat Barriers are extremely versatile products and available to be shipped worldwide.
Heat Protection Sleeving
No. We offer both Velcro and sewn Heat Sleeving to give you options to fit without removing the line. Our Velcro Sleeving options are perfect for applications where the line cannot be removed.
The temperature range of our sleeves vary from 250°C, all the way up to continuous temperatures of 1000°C. We have a sleeving option to suit all requirements.
The selection of sleeves that we have available offer a range of different heat protection qualities, as well as Velcro or sewn/tube heat sleeves to offer flexibility when the line or hose cannot be removed.
We offer three main types of Heat Sleeving here at Funk Motorsport.
Funk Motorsport Silver Heat Sleeving protects up to 250°C, while our Funk Motorsport High Heat Silicon Sleeving protects up to continuous temperatures of 1000°C. Looking for something in-between? Check out our Funk Motorsport Gold Sewn Heat Sleeving, offering protection for up to 450°C.
These are all available in a variety of diameters and lengths to suit your requirements. Simply choose a diameter and length and add to cart. Funk Motorsport Gold and Silver Reflective Heat Sleeving are also available in Velcro versions, to help for those applications where removal of the pipe isn’t possible
We simply need two measurements to find the correct size Heat Sleeving that you need – the diameter (this is the total width of the hose/line/cable that you are looking to protect), and the length of the area you are looking to protect.
Once you have these, select a diameter which is the same size, or slightly larger than the line you are trying to protect. All of the measurements on our website are in mm and refer to the internal diameter of our Heat Sleeves.
Still unsure on which Heat Sleeving product you need for your application? Get in contact, where we will be more than happy to find the correct Heat Sleeving for you.
Heat Sleeving is an essential product used to protect lines and hoses against direct heat and general heat within the engine bay. They can also be used to protect fuel lines, coolant hoses, or electronic cables from rubbing and chaffing on the outside. When it comes to the safety and reliability of your car, ensure your vital lines are protected with Funk Motorsport Heat Sleeving.
Heat Reflective Tapes, Sheets and Blankets
Great question! Our Funk Motorsport Reflective Tape and Sheets are designed to reflect away radiant heat. They are made of a thin ceramic fibre weave, topped with either Gold or Silver Reflective Foil.
Our Funk Motorsport Reflective Heat Blankets however, have an entirely different function. Our Reflective Heat Blankets are made of a 1mm thick ceramic fibre blanket, which is then topped with Gold or Silver Reflective Foil. The blankets act as a Heat Barrier, protecting against convectional heat transfer, while the layer of foil on the external face works to reflect away radiant heat. Perfect for firewalls, bulkheads, and exhaust tunnels or for intake applications where you need a little more protection.
You may have seen applications where Funk Motorsport Gold Reflective Heat Tape has been used on intake pipework. Let’s explain why.
Air Intake Temperatures (AITs) are extremely important. When air enters your engine, you need it to be as dense as possible. The denser the air within your engine, the bigger the bang, and the more power your car will produce. The key? Ensuring your air intake temperatures are as cool as possible. Colder air is denser than warmer air so it is important to ensure that your air intake temperatures are as low as possible for consistent power delivery over time.
All of our products are made from the best materials for the job. This is where Silver and Gold come in. Both are naturally reflective to help reflect away radiant heat. Silver reflects up to 80% of radiant heat, where Gold reflects away up to 90% of radiant heat. Perfect for keeping Air Intake Temperatures as low as possible. In the case of our Reflective Heat Blankets, ceramic fibre blankets are topped with our Gold and Silver Reflective Foil to allow them to reflect away radiant heat as well as fighting against convectional heat transfer.
Intake Cooling
Great question. Regardless of whether your car is turbocharged, supercharged or naturally aspirated, Air Intake Temperatures are hugely important. Our Intake Protection products are suitable for all engine types to ensure cooler, denser air is provided by your intake.
To keep your air intake temperatures as cool as possible! Check the question above around the importance of having a cool intake to find out more.

Manifold Blankets
Funk Motorsport Manifold Heat Blankets have been designed to fit the exact manifold they are intended for. Our Heat Blankets simply wrap around the manifold and are secured using the retaining springs provided. No additional purchase necessary.
Our signature Funk Motorsport 4-layer construction is the only Heat Blanket construction on the market that can be removed for routine turbo and manifold maintenance. Simply remove the springs, remove the blanket to carry out maintenance, and reinstall once complete!
Great question! They are very, very different. Our Funk Motorsport Lava Rock Exhaust Wrap is a fantastic product that works to retain excess heat energy within exhaust gases and dramatically reduce under bonnet temperatures. Our Funk Motorsport Titanium Lava Rock Exhaust Wrap reduces temperatures of around 700-800°C down to approx. 300°C. For most applications this significant temperature drop meets a customer’s requirements.
In some cases however, applications require a higher level of protection, that’s where our Funk Motorsport Manifold Blankets come in. Our Funk Motorsport Manifold Heat Blankets are made from the same materials and construction methods as our Turbo Blankets, reducing temperatures of around 700-800°C down to less than 100°C on the external face. They offer huge temperature reductions while being perfectly formed to the shape of your manifold.
We also offer our Manifold Heat Blanket construction in universal form for straight pipes and small bends. Check out our Funk Motorsport Exhaust Wrap Around Blankets for an off the shelf solution that offers the same great performance.
Yes! The Manifold Blanket section of a website is constantly growing based on the custom pieces that we manufacture here in the UK. If your manifold is not listed, it simply means that we have not yet manufactured a bespoke blanket for your specific vehicle. If you are interested in having a Manifold Blanket custom made for your exhaust, view the custom blankets section of our website, or contact us using the form HERE!
Turbo Blankets
Yes! Whilst we may not have every turbo listed, we are confident we have a Turbo Blanket for most. This could generally mean that many turbos utilise the same or very similar blankets to one another. Whilst each turbo can vary in physical size, this is generally only a few mm between frame to frame. These small differences aren’t enough to generally jump up or down a size in Turbo Jacket, since our textiles materials are very versatile.
Get in contact, where we will be more than happy to find the correct turbo blanket for you. If you have any images, or know the A/R of your turbocharger, that always helps to speed up the process too!
All three of our blanket finishes feature the same industry-leading construction methods that we are known for here at Funk Motorsport. Titanium and Carbon Fibre Turbo Blankets have a different outer layer for aesthetic purposes, allowing you to choose the best finish to suit the look of your car or engine bay. Titanium and Carbon Fibre Turbo Jackets are designed to have direct heat contact on the inside of the blanket only.
Our Inside Out Blankets however, have a different function and feature the internal material, mirrored on the external face. This is important as our Inside Out Blankets can withstand direct heat contact on both the internal and external faces. This finish offers a solution for those that have a heat source that will rest against the external face of the blanket. This may be an exhaust, oversized exhaust clamp that will touch the outside, or any other external heat contact that could be incurred by incorrect fitment where the blanket is folded over on itself.
It is important to choose the correct Turbo Blanket finish for your application.
No! In most cases, Turbo Jackets can be installed on the car, without removal of the turbo. Sometimes people choose to fit Turbo Blankets if they remove their turbo for maintenance, however this is generally not necessary. Some applications will be a little more fiddly than others, however, most can be fitted at home on your driveway! See the Fitting Guide on each Turbo Blanket product page to understand a little more of what is involved when fitting each Turbo Blanket type!
We have tried to make this as simple as possible! Either use the Turbo Blanket Finder tool, or search via turbo make, or make/model of your vehicle using the categories that you can find here. Still can’t find what you need? Get in contact, where we will be more than happy to find the correct blanket for you. If you have any images, or know the A/R of your turbo, that always helps to speed up the process too!
This is a common misconception. A Turbo Blanket actually separates the turbine housing from the core (in regards to temperature split). This allows the core work with less heat strain on it, meaning that the chance of failure is lower. Importantly, excess heat energy is retained within the exhaust gases. Hotter gases accelerate faster than cooler gases, reducing the overall effect that it would have on the turbo’s life.
Win all around! Lower engine bay temperatures, less heat soak, lower intake temperatures, faster spool up, and more reliable performance! It’s a no brainer.
Any increase in gas temperature happens after the combustion chamber, so wouldn’t have an affect on the combustion process. We understand that a lot of “tuners” get hooked up on EGT numbers, but you have to look at where in the cycle they are being measured. In this instance the temperature of the bang in the combustion chamber will not increase, therefore ruling out all concerns.
No! In fact, a Turbo Jacket will actually help to reduce oil temperatures, and therefore improve cooling! Turbo blankets are thick, and offer protection for the oil feed/drain lines, resulting in a cooler oil entering the turbo, and allowing it doing a more efficient job of cooling the turbo core!
As with any turbo application, to maintain turbo life and reliability, it is recommended the correct turbo cool down procedure is taken after a spirited drive. This procedure is no different when using a Funk Motorsport Turbo Blanket.
Turbo Blankets are designed to reduce heat output from the hot turbine housing. With the close proximity to the compressor housing, this is key to reducing Air Intake Temperatures (AIT). Lower AITs result in a more consistent power delivery run after run! Turbo Blankets also help to massively create a lower engine bay temperature, providing more efficient conditions for improved oil temperatures, lower fuel temperatures and more reliable electronic components.
The final benefit of a Turbo Jacket, is that the heat energy that is normally lost, is retained within the exhaust gases, creating a faster spool time, and improving flow through the entire exhaust system.
